i think it may be trickier to get bought music off the ipod. But non-bought music is not a problem at all. That sounds goofy but I think it's true

Thanks, Quinny... that's a big help. I've had iTunes for awhile just to have it, and almost all of my files read into it.

I see that the iPods are coming down in price, so I really think I'm going to buy one now.

anything you can get into itunes you can put on an ipod. So the answer is yes, all the crap you've downloaded online as long as it's in mp3,wav,wmv etc.... common music formats supported by the itunes program you will be able to put those songs and more on an ipod. However, I had an ipod when it first came out and my battery lasted for like 6 months before it died....

I'm thinking about getting a 30 gig ipod, but was wondering what their comptibility with mp3 downloads from sites like bearshare and kazaa is like. Will all of these files be able to be stored on the ipod, or is there some sort of encryption that prevents this?

I have a ton of cd's that I can flip to the ipod, but I also have a large amount of mp3's I've downloaded over the past 7-8 years. If I can't put these mp3's on the ipod, then I don't think I want to get it.

Any insight from ipod users would be appreciated.
